Xcel Bulk Logistics has openings for a Level B Shop Technician to be responsible for repairs and the maintenance of diesel-powered tractor-trailers for internal and external customers, as well as ensuring the roadworthiness of company and leased equipment.
What you’ll be doing
- Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers while utilizing personal safety equipment as required
- Diagnose and repair tractor and trailer systems including but not limited to engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air systems, and air conditioning systems
- Move trucks and trailers in and out of the shop for maintenance
- Open repair orders and charge the appropriate parts to the repair order
- Perform tire inspections and fill out paperwork to company standards
- Shop clean-up and housekeeping responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain essential vehicle worthiness, including proper fuel and fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and safety equipment. Submit reports indicating the condition of the equipment
- Comprehend and perform Driver Vehicle Inspection Repair (DVIR) process

What we require
- Three (3) years or more of relevant experience
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Ability to provide own essential hand tools (List available upon request)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and comprehend service manuals
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the shop to repair and maintain company equipment
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance
- Able to use basic diagnostic software
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and out-of-service parameters for tractors, trailers, and accessorial equipment
- Knowledge of proper procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials
